Frequently Asked Questions A Community of Caring. A Commitment to Recovery.
What is Gateway Community Services and what kind of services do you provide?
Gateway Community Services is a private non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation agency committed to building better communities by taking action against addiction! Our wide range of services includes e-therapy, residential and outpatient treatment programs for adults, adolescents, women with children, transitional recovery housing and more.
What if I don’t think I have a problem?
Most of us don’t realize our drinking or use of drugs is a problem until we get in trouble with the law. If you do not think you have a problem with drugs or alcohol, yet friends, relatives, co-workers and employers say that you do, you probably do. If you’re still not sure, take our short questionnaire and see how you do. Be honest when you answer the questions, if you lie you are hurting yourself and the ones you love. Get help if you need it.
Do I need insurance to receive treatment from Gateway?
Not necessarily. Gateway accepts cash, credit cards, and some insurance. All of our services are provided on a sliding fee scale but there are waiting lists for many programs. Residential Services has the longest waiting list followed by some of our outpatient programs. Everyone is expected to pay a portion of their treatment with minimum amounts required for each service. If you have insurance, Gateway will assist you in billing your insurance company for the services. Some insurance companies have co-pays which must be paid at the time service is rendered. Private pay for services enables you to benefit from our treatment programs immediately.
How much will treatment cost?
That depends on the types of services you require and the length of time you require them. Your treatment plan will be determined following your assessment and our customer service representative will go over your plan and the fess.

What is the first step on the road to recovery?
Recognizing you have a problem and seeking help for it. Listen to others. If those around you are telling you that you need help, don’t wait until you get a DUI, commit a crime, or lose your job before seeking help. The first step is asking for help.
Why can’t I just stop on my own?
For many people, alcohol or drugs have become a part of their daily life and quitting puts them at medical risk for withdrawal complications. It’s very difficult to stop using drugs on your own. Most people need guidance and the support of others to help get past all the cravings a person goes through trying to quit. Drugs and alcohol are all around us -- at home, at work, at school. It takes a strong relapse-prevention program to keep most people from using again after they leave treatment. Recovery is a lifelong process. Very few people can just quit without the help of a treatment program with continued involvement in a 12-step support group or other support systems including church and family.
