Medical Support Staff
LOCATION:  555 Stockton Street
WORK HOURS: Full-time or PRN (on call as needed)/non-exempt

This is a professional position in which the incumbent will provide direct care to adult patients as assigned by MSS Team Leader and/or Director of Nursing (DON). This is a PRN on call as needed position to ensure patient to staff ratio is met should the shift be short staff for any reason. You must have an aptitude to work with patients withdrawing from substance and/or with mental health disorders. This position will require someone attentive with excellent observation and monitoring skills to observe patient behavior. This position is in a “Hands Off” facility and at no time is staff allowed to put his/her hands on a patient to control or restrain them; The only exception is if the client is in danger of hurting themselves another patient or a staff member. It is the requirement of this position to help protect the safety, security and wellbeing of the patients. Incumbent will work directly with the nursing staff providing them with vital signs and documenting as needed. Incumbent will conduct room inspections on a daily basis, documenting and posting results. The incumbent must be able to show empathy to the patient’s needs and have the ability to intervene quickly and appropriately with patients experiencing crisis situations. The incumbent will do thorough searches on all patients entering the facility for services. The incumbent will be required to complete occurrence reports, Behavioral form reports and communicate all within the Pass down Log (PDL) and change of shift. This position may be required to work holidays, evenings and/or weekends as needed and incumbent must be awake throughout all shifts. This position will require the incumbent to drive patients to various locations in an agency vehicle; therefore a valid state of Florida driver’s license with a safe driving as verified by the agencies insurance company and ability to successfully complete an agency driving test.


Incumbent must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent with basic knowledge of substance abuse, mental health and the 12 step recovery process. Pay for this position is based on experience and/or certification(s) held, such as C.N.A. or Medical Tech (These certifications are not required for the position)

  • Must be able to pass a level II DCF background screening
  • Must have above average communication skills both internal and external
  • Must have knowledge of the 12 step recovery process
  • Must abide by Agencies Code of Ethics, Agency Standards, Policy and Procedure Manual
  • Must have own reliable transportation
  • Must have the ability to move throughout the facility constantly without limitations
