WORK HOURS: 40 Week/ Non Exempt (May be required to work evenings: weekends or holidays)

This is a professional position in which the incumbent will provide direct care to adult patients as assigned by RRSS Program Director. The incumbent will provide room inspections on a daily basis, documenting and posting results. The incumbent must be able to show empathy to the patient’s needs and have the ability to intervene quickly and appropriately with patients experiencing crisis situations. The RRSS is responsible for establishing a rapport with residential patients as well as to teach, lead, and mentor individuals to reach personal wellness and recovery goals. Incumbent will promote social learning through experiences; encourage patients to develop independent behaviors that are based in recovery. Incumbent will assist patients to establish life skills, including personal care and social responsibility habits. They will assist patients to establish/reestablish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships.  Help the patient’s access information and resources necessary to make informed decisions to positively affect the patients’ overall wellness and recovery. Assist and motivate patients to navigate the array of services available to achieve and maintain recovery. Engage and assist patients to move through the stages of recovery and develop recovery and social capital. The incumbent will be required to complete occurrence reports, Behavioral form reports and communicate all within the Pass down Log (PDL). This position may be required to work evenings; weekends or holidays and incumbent must be awake throughout all shifts. This position will require the incumbent to drive patients to various locations in an agency vehicle; therefore a valid state of Florida driver’s license with a safe driving as verified by the agencies insurance company and ability to successfully complete an agency driving test


Incumbent must have a High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Incumbent must be a Certified Recovery Support Specialist or Certified Recovery Peer Specialist through the Florida Certification Board or the ability to complete certification within first year of employment.  This position may require the incumbent to drive so they must have a valid state of Florida driver’s license with safe driving record based on the agencies insurance company. Be able to pass an agency driving test to drive a company vehicle to facilitate outings and events.

  • Must be able to pass a level II DCF background screening
  • Must be able to perform assigned work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to relate to adolescents, adults, families, referral sources and internal Gateway Team Members and must possess requisite competencies to effectively understand and provide appropriate services to the patient population served
  • Ability to maintain positive team approach
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment under stress situations
  • Must have knowledge of the 12 step recovery process
  • A valid State of Florida drivers license with a SAFE driving record
